What data are we talking about here?

The subject of our privacy policy is your personal data, i.e. all information relating to you as an identified or identifiable natural person. Personal data is also referred to simply as data in the following.

What’s the legal framework?

If you contract a service directly with us, Swiss law applies and any conflict is to be settled in a Swiss court. If you contract a service through one of our distribution partners, their privacy policy applies as well.

How do we collect your data?

Automated data collection

When accessing our website, your end device automatically transmits data for technical reasons. This data includes the URL of the page accessed, latency of the network connection, date and time. We do not access, collect, or store this data. However, both our hosting provider and Google Analytics collect and analyze this data (see third-party providers below) and provide us aggregated statistical information based on this data.

Bookings

When you book a service, we collect the data required to provide the service and to contact you in case of changes. This includes the following information: First and last name, email address, telephone number, number of participants, date and time. In order to optimize your experience we may ask you for other information, such as the age of the participants, their physical fitness or their musical experience.

Payments

When paying by credit card, we collect your credit card information and any information provided to us by the credit card processing partner.

Direct Contact

We may communicate directly through the contact form on alphorninthealps.ch, by email, phone, or a messenger systems (WhatsApp, Signal). In the course of such interactions, we collect information on your name, your e-mail address, and your phone number. While we have access to a log of phone calls, we do not record any phone conversations.

Depending on the nature of our conversation, we may ask you for additional information like your age, your physical fitness, your musical experience level and dietary requirements. We use this information in order to adjust the program of your excursion to your personal needs.

Social media

Alphorn in the Alps is active on Facebook and Instagram. If you connect with us on a social media platform, we will have access to data on your social media profile. We do not download any data from social networks.

Whenever you pay us by credit card, these providers will collect data related to the transaction.

Hosting & Email Services

Swizzonic AG hosts our website and our email account. Accordingly, when you interact with our website or provide personal data, it is processed on Swizzonic servers which are based in Switzerland. Swizzonic AG is subject to Swiss law on data privacy protection and their own privacy policy posted on their website swizzonic.ch. They use your data for ensuring the smooth operation of their servers.

When you book a service from us through one of these platforms, they will collect data from you and provide us with your name, e-mail address and phone number. In the booking process, they also use cookies. The booking platforms are connect through various sales channels – online and on-site – which in turn may collect your data.

Google Analytics

If you have consented, we use Google Analytics 360, a web analytics service. Google Analytics 360 collects pseudonymous data from you about the use of our website, including your shortened IP address, and uses cookies. This data is transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity, and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google’s behalf.

The use of Google Analytics is based on your consent. You can revoke your consent at any time and deactivate Google Analytics using the browser add-on here: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Alternatively, you can revoke your consent: https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/analyticsjs/user-opt-out.

We use aggregated data provided by Google Analytics (e.g. geographical distribution of website visitors, time spent on different pages of our website, user interaction patterns etc.), in order to improve our website.

How we (don’t) use your data for marketing

Data obtained through automated data collection, booking, payments or direct contact as described above will not be used for targeted marketing. We also refrain from sending newsletters using the emails provided by you through any of these channels. If you decide to follow us on social media, you will regularly be notified on our posts through this channel.

How we ensure that your data stays with us

We do not share your data. Exceptions to this general principle are

  • Third-party providers for the respective purposes outlined above;
  • If we are forced to provide the data to public authorities (e.g. in the context of a criminal investigation or a tax audit).

Specifically, we refrain from selling your data or sharing your data for marketing purposes.

We take adequate care to protect your data against loss or theft. Data obtained through our website is stored within the Amelia and Fluent Form Plugins of our WordPress website. The WordPress instance is run as a Managed WordPress service by Swizzonic AG, including a solid securities setup and regular backups.

How long do we keep your data?

We delete or anonymise your personal data as soon as it is no longer necessary for the purposes for which we collected or used it. We also continue to retain your data if we are obliged to do so for legal reasons (e.g. tax records) or if the data is needed for a longer period of time for criminal prosecution or to secure, assert or enforce legal claims. If data must be retained for legal reasons, processing will be restricted. The data is then no longer available for further use.

What are your rights in the context of this policy?

You have the rights described below with regard to your personal data.

  • Disclosure: You have the right to receive information from us at any time, upon request, about the personal data we process that concerns you. On request, we provide to you your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
  • Correction: You have the right to request that we correct personal data relating to you without delay if it is inaccurate.
  • Deletion: You have the right to demand that we delete your data if it is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected as well as in cases of unlawful processing.
  • Objection: You have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of personal data concerning you. We will then stop processing your personal data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves to assert, exercise or defend legal claims.

To exercise your rights, you can make a written request by post, email or via the contact form on our website. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights.
